Easy side dish ~ Mushrooms in red wine sauce
Looking for a yummy side dish that uses wine? This Winexpert Burlington recipe is easy and delicious, only uses a few ingredients, plus your own red wine... what can be better!

1-2 packages of button mushrooms
1 small onion, or 2 scallions
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped small
2 Tbsp. butter
1/3 Cup red wine
1 Tbsp. fresh rosemary
Juice from 1/2 lemon or lime
Salt & Pepper
Here's how to do it:
Heat a large pan to medium-low temperature and melt the butter.
Add the scallions and garlic and sautée for a couple of minutes until scallions are translucent and fragrant.
Turn up heat to medium and add mushrooms, sautéeing for another two minutes until they begin to turn brown.
Add balance of items and continue cooking until most of the wine has evaporated, and the mushrooms have lost much of their water content.
TIP ~ If you want to turn this dish into a full course meal, at this point simply remove the mushrooms and set aside, then add a couple of tablespoons of oil and heat. Then add your chicken or beef strips, sautée until fully cooked, and serve along with your mushrooms. Delicious!
