Wine baste recipe for roasted turkey

You know how to roast a turkey, but have you tried basting it with your home-made wine? Come to Winexpert Burlington and make your own wine... then use it for basting your turkey, and bring out delicious flavour tones to your next family meal!
Ingredients for baste
  • 2 cups of low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of red wine
  • 2 sprigs (or 1 Tbsp.) fresh rosemary
  • 2 fresh Sage leaves
  • 1 Tbsp. black pepper
  • zest from 1 lemon
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
In a small saucepan bring the broth, butter and red wine to a boil, then lower to medium-low. Add the herbs and pepper, and simmer for 10 more minutes. Remove from heat and add the honey and lemon zest.
Use this basting liquid on your turkey, basting every 30 minutes until thoroughly cooked (thermometer in thigh meat should indicate 175°F).
