Winexpert Burlington Wine Recipes:
Mac and Cheese Tuna Wine Bake - the reinvented Mac and Cheese!
At Winexpert Burlington we have reinvented the Mac and Cheese, by adding Tuna and of course, WINE!
This recipe is a MUST TRY, and it's quite inexpensive and easy to make. You will basically need 1 can of tuna per person you plan to serve, and as much macaroni as you'd usually serve a person.
This recipe can also be prepared in one large casserole dish, or various smaller ones so each person has their own dish.
Go ahead, give it a try today!
What you'll need for this Winexpert Burlington Mac Cheese Tuna dish:
1 box of macaroni, parboiled til 'al dente'
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
1/2 onion, diced
1/2 Cup of peas
1/4 Cup of white wine
1 Tbsp. dijon mustard
1/2 tsp. salt
pinch of pepper
1/2 Cup grated Parmesan or Roman cheese
3 cans of tuna, NOT drained
Here's how to make it:
Grease the bottom of your casserole dish using butter, set aside.
Preheat oven to 400°F
In a large saucepan, place the butter and add onions, stirring until soft and transparent. Then add white wine and mix well.
Add a pinch of salt and dijon, mixing until well combined.
Add the tuna with all its juices, peas, salt and pepper to taste, and allow to reduce on medium heat for about 5 minutes.
Turn heat off and add cooked pasta and combine.
Place half the mixture into your casserole dish and sprinkle half of the shredded/grated cheese. Repeat with the balance of the pasta/tuna mixture and top with balance of cheese.
Bake in the oven, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes. If desired, you can turn oven on broil for another few minutes, watching carefully not to burn the top, and broil until browned and crispy.
Enjoy and cheers to wine!
