Calling all Sangria lovers! This healthier version of Sangria, prepared by Winexpert Burlington, is our version of the popular Spanish cold fruity wine drink.

Best when made ahead of time and cooled in the fridge, Sangria is a great summer and fall season wine drink.

Ingredients
  • 1.5 bottles of red wine
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 2 cups soda water
  • 1 pear, peeled & diced
  • 2 oranges, sliced in rounds
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh is best, or canned & drained)
  • 1/4 cup full-pulp orange juice
  • 1 cup coconut sugar*

Method
Mix all ingredients in a large glass pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving. This allows the fruits to release their juices and the flavours to mix with the wine. Serve with a sprig of mint leaves and some ice.

Note: coconut sugar is the boiled and dehydrated sap of the coconut palm and because of its trace nutrients, has been shown to have less of a dramatic impact on blood sugar levels. Coconut sugar contains a lot more vitamins and minerals than white refined table sugar, such as vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron and copper, as well as antioxidant properties.. and it's delicious!
